GOVERNMENT MEETING
The cabinet will hold its regular weekly meeting, no major
economic items on agenda.
SAS MEETING WITH RENEGATE DEPUTIES
The liberal junior government party Freedom and Solidarity's
(SaS) parliamentary club will meet to debate whether three
deputies will quit the club and become independent, 1000 GMT.
Their departure would mean a loss of the government's
majority in the parliament.
CENTRAL EUROPE CONTINUES Q4 RECOVERY, Q/Q GROWTH SLOWS
Emerging Europe's industry-led economic recovery slowed at
the end of 2010 and weak consumer demand compounded by budget
consolidation in many countries looked likely to keep a lid on
growth this year.

CENTRAL EUROPE WANTS ACTION ON FOOD, COMMODS PRICES
Central European leaders called on Tuesday for European
Union-wide action to tackle "speculative" jumps in food,
commodity and energy inflation, which is sapping a rebound from
recession in much of the region.

Germany and five central European countries called on
Belarus on Tuesday to release all political prisoners and halt
political repression.

EU FINMINS NOMINATE BELGIUM'S PRAET TO ECB BOARD
European Union finance ministers adopted on Tuesday a
recommendation from euro zone finance ministers on Monday to
nominate Belgium's Peter Praet to the executive board of the
European Central Bank.

DEC IND ORDERS +11.5 PCT M/M, UP 34.6 PCT Y/Y
Slovak new industrial orders rose by 34.6 percent
year-on-year in December and increased by 11.5 percent on the
month on a seasonally adjusted basis, the Statistics Office said
on Tuesday.

DEUTSCHE TELEKOM TO INVEST IN SLOVAKIA
German telecommunication group Deutsche Telekom <DTEGn.DE>
will invest several millions of euros in Slovak capital
Bratislava to build a new financial centre with 500 new jobs, a
source close to the deal said.

FINMIN NEW PROPOSAL FOR ESM
The finance ministry proposed that euro-zone countries
should contribute to the new permanent rescue fund - the
European Stability Mechanism (ESM) according to their gross
national income, the original proposal is based on number of
citizens and productivity.

SLOVNAFT'S PROFIT
The refinery Slovnaft, unit of Hungary's MOL <MOLB.BU>,
posted a net profit of 48 million euros ($64.81 million) last
year. Revenues, in the fourth quarter, rose by more than 25
percent to 981 million euros, the company said.
