regular share buybacks, its chief executive tells

POLISH CENTRAL BANK
The heads of Poland's central bank and its banking
association will present on Monday at 0700 GMT proposals to
protect the country's banking system as fears grow that the
mounting global credit crisis may hurt local lenders.

HUNGARIAN BANKS
The Hungarian parliament could vote on Monday on a banking
bill under which the government would offer an unlimited
guarantee on all bank deposits, writes Nepszabadsag's Hungary

BACB
Bulgarian bank BACB <BACB.BB> posted a 14.6 percent increase
in its net profit for the first nine months of 2008, writes
Monitor.
ANTIBIOTICE
Romanian state-owned drug maker Antibiotice <ATBE.BX> will
be privatised when the current liquidity shortage will be over,
the head of the privatisation agency Teodor Atanasiu was quoted
as saying by Business Standard.
ARCELOR MITTAL
Arcelor Mittal Galati, the Romanian unit of steel giant
Arcelor Mittal <ISPA.AS>, might cut production to up to 50
percent in some of its units because of lower demand stemming
from the global financial crisis, the head of the company's
trade union George Tiber told Business Standard.
HUNGARIAN CENTRAL BANK
Hungary's government and central bank announced several
measures on Friday to shore up the country's falling financial
markets and revealed plans to redraw both the 2008 and 2009
budgets to speed up deficit cuts. []
POLISH BANKS
Poland's finance ministry, the central bank and the
country's financial watchdog are set to meet the chief
executives of Poland's top 10 banks on Monday to discuss the
situation on the financial markets, a banking source said.

Hungary's OTP Bank<OTPB.BU> bought 3.629 million own shares
on the Budapest bourse on Friday at an average price of 3,463
forints, it said in a statement. []
BUCHAREST BOURSE
The Bucharest Stock Exchange halted trade on Friday as
global markets tumbled to new lows in a panic sell-off.

EUROPEAN MARKETS
European stock index futures pointed to a jump when shares
start trading on Monday, as governments moved to stabilise the
banking system.
Futures for the Eurostoxx 50 <STXEc1>, Germany's DAX <FDXc1>
and the French CAC 40 <FCEc1> were up between 6.3 percent and
7.6 percent.
