SINGAPORE, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Spot gold was steady on
Tuesday, supported by continued worries about the fiscal
health of euro zone nations.
FUNDAMENTALS
* Spot gold was little changed at $1,366.95 an
ounce by 0026 GMT.
* U.S. gold futures gained 0.1 percent to $1,368 an
ounce.
* The International Monetary Fund has slowed the rate of
selling its gold by 40 percent in October from the previous
month, as interest among central banks to own the metal
increased as a hedge against economic uncertainty.
[]
* The euro saw little reprieve early in Asia on Tuesday,
mired at two-month lows as investors gave the Irish rescue
package the thumbs down, believing other debt laden euro zone
members will also require aid at some point.
* Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust , the world's
largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, gained 1.519 tonnes
to 1,286.603 tonnes on Nov 29, after staying unchanged for a
week.
* Gold imports in India, the world's largest gold
consumer, were seen rising more than 10 percent on the year to
34 tonnes in November, helped by holiday season and investment
demand, a Reuters poll showed. []
* China approved the country's first mutual fund that bets
on gold prices, as inflation fears fuel demand for the
precious metal. []
MARKET NEWS
* U.S. stocks edged down in a low-volume session on Monday
on worries Europe's credit crisis will spread despite a
weekend agreement to bail out Ireland.
* Oil extended gains on Tuesday, after the cold snap
across Europe and frigid weather in North America helped lift
oil by two percent on Monday.
