WARSAW, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press

POLISH BANK BILL
The work on the proposed package of emergency measures for
the Polish banking sector has stalled as bankers oppose the plan
to curtail their pay in return for state aid, daily Parkiet
quotes a deputy finance minister as saying.
BCR
Romania's banking group BCR, owned by Austria's Erste Bank
<ERST.VI>, could sell its Anglo-Romanian Bank next year,
Business Standard reports.
CEZ
Czech energy group CEZ <CEZsp.PR> and Romanian state-owned
power firm Termoelectrica will sign on Thursday a deal to build
a coal-fired power plant worth 400 million euros in eastern
Romanian, Bursa writes.
MONBAT
Bulgarian battery producer Monbat <MONBAT.BB> will buy back
up to 223,000 of its shares in the next 180 days at 4-7 levs
each, Monitor writes.
MOL
Hungarian oil group MOL <MOLB.BU> has offered a strategic
partnership with Slovenia's oil company Petrol, Dnevnik reports.
E.ON
E.ON Ruhrgas <EONG.DE> chairman will visit Hungary tomorrow
to discuss with the government on its recent cancellation of the
natural-gas import-pricing formula, which the company says will
cost it 100 billion forints this year, Nepszabadsag's Hungary
Around the Clock service reports.
WARSAW BOURSE
Poland will decide on a new privatisation scenario for the
Warsaw bourse within two weeks, Treasury Minister Aleksander
Grad said on Tuesday. []
EUROPEAN MARKETS
European shares were set to open steady with a firmer bias
on Wednesday after overnight gains for U.S. stock markets led by
computer maker Hewlett-Packard <HPQ.N> but losses in Asian
equity markets linked to persistent recession fears.
Financial bookmakers expected Britain's FTSE 100 <> to
open between 3 points lower and 7 points higher, Germany's DAX
<> 7 to 27 points higher and the French CAC-40 <>
between 16 and 30 points higher.

WALL STREET
U.S. stocks staged a late fight back on Tuesday after a
choppy session in which stronger-than-expected results and
outlook from computer maker Hewlett-Packard offset fears that
more losses at Citigroup <C.N> and other banks are yet to come.
Stocks swung between negative and positive territory. Traders
took heart that the market stayed above five-year lows.
