WARSAW, Dec 22 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press

KGHM
ING cuts Europe's top copper miner KGHM <KGHM.WA> to hold
from buy and its target price for the stock to 30.8 zlotys from
129, the brokerage said in a report dated December 19.
REDAN
Fourth quarter at Polish clothes retailer Redan <REDA.WA>
will be its record one, with net profit for the period exceeding
last year's 2.8 million zlotys level, the group's deputy CEO
Bogusz Kruszynski told daily Parkiet.
NETIA
Poland's second largest phone operator Netia <NTIA.WA>
targets 1 million broadband clients and a 17-percent share in
the Polish Internet market, the group's CEO Miroslaw Godlewski
told Gazeta Wyborcza daily.
LOTOS
Lotos Exploration and Production Norge, controlled by
Poland's second largest refiner Lotos <LTOS.WA>, won minority
stakes in four new oil licences in the North Sea and the
Norwegian Sea, it said on Friday. []
NUCLEAR CONSORTIUM
Poland's top power producer Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE)
will setup an international consortium to build nuclear plants
in Poland in the first quarter of 2009, daily Parkiet reported
on Saturday quoting unnamed sources. []
ALRO
Vimetco <VICOq.L>, the majority shareholder of aluminium
smelter Alro <ALRO.BX> may decide to lay off around 1,200
employees and halve production next year due to the world
financial crisis, Ziarul Financiar reported.
EUROPEAN MARKETS
European shares were poised to edge lower on Monday as more
evidence the global downturn will be a severe one rattled
investors, but a timid recovery in commodity prices could lend
support to recently hammered mining and oil shares.

WALL STREET
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq rose on Friday after the U.S.
government said it would throw a $17.4 billion lifeline to
automakers grappling with falling consumer demand.
Investors could do their holiday shopping on Wall Street

over efforts to fight the year-long recession may prompt a
year-end rally.
