EPH SEEKING APPROVAL TO BUY POLAND'S ENEA STAKE: The Czech
Republic's Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH) is seeking
regulatory approval for it to potentially buy a 53 percent stake
in Polish utility Enea <ENAE.WA>, confirming its interest in the
state sale, the regulator's website showed on Monday.

CEZ POWERS UP DUKOVANY UNIT 1: Czech utility CEZ <>
has powered up unit 1 at its Dukovany power plot to 94 percent
after a regular refuelling and it said on Monday the 456
megawatt unit would be at full capacity by Tuesday or Wednesday.

CEE MARKETS: The forint extended a month-long rally on
Monday, outpacing emerging European peers on hopes that Hungary

SOLAR BOOM PROBLEM: A government advisory committee is
mulling to propose that the government uses part of proceeds
from a considered VAT hike to help offset the steep rise in
electricity prices next year coming from a generous government
solar power subsidy.

STEEL INDUSTRY: Revenue in the Czech steel industry rose in
the first half by 10.8 percent year on year to 47 billion crowns
($2.63 billion). Output more than doubled over the period. Last
year, production in the sector shrank by more than 25 percent
and steel companies showed a cumulative loss of 4.1 billion
crowns.
