Slovakia will restart a nuclear power plant unit it shut
down at end-2008 to comply with its EU accession agreement
because cuts in Russian gas supplies threaten to cause power
blackouts, officials said on Saturday.

SLOVAK NOV OUTPUT WORST IN DECADE, OUTLOOK BLEAK
Slovak industrial output was at the weakest level in 10
years in November due to global economic weakness, data showed
on Friday, and analysts saw no early rebound in the youngest
euro zone member's economy.

FIRST EU DEAL BREACH
Slovakia will be the first country to breach the accession
agreement with the European Union when it restarts a unit at the
Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power plant. The European Commission
said it had not yet received an official request from the Slovak
government to restart the power plant.

The global financial crisis is hitting the travel industry

SKY EUROPE LOSES PLANES
The Bratislava-based low cost airline SkyEurope has lost six
planes as it had to return them to a leasing company. The
airline is currently operating only five aircraft.
