tender conditions for the sale of national carrier Czech
Airlines (CSA), pushing ahead with the privatisation despite a
deepening global economic crisis.

ECOFIN: The Czech EU presidency will propose European
finance ministers on Tuesday a plan on fiscal consolidation
following the economic crisis but an agreement may not be
possible, Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek said.

slightly raise the number of troops serving in Afghanistan, a
compromise plan after the parliament rejected a proposal for a

CRISIS MEASURE: Finance Minister Miroslav Kalousek said he
could imagine to cut VAT rate to 9 percent from 19 percent on
some services to relieve a faltering economy. He also said the
government has worked out a "scenario" for the state budget that
assumes 2009 growth at 1 percent, below 4.8 percent expected in
the budget as approved by parliament.
