                                 BRD
                                 Romanian bank BRD <BRDX.BX> reports first-half net profit of
515 lei ($223.8), below the average forecast of 563 million in a
Reuters poll.                                      []
                                 
                                 ORCO
                                 The deputy chief executive of Czech developer Orco Property
Group <> is quoted by Mlada Dnes as saying he is not
surprised that the credit rating agency Moody's downgraded
Orco's debt but did not expect it to happen only a month after
the agency issued its previous rating for the developer.
                                 He also said Orco plans to sell projects worth at least 200
million euros by the end of the year.

                                 BECALI BANK
                                 The central bank board has rejected the creation of Becali
Bank, owned by soccer tycoon Gigi Becali, with a proposed share
capital of around 30 million euros ($45.50 million), Ziarul
Financiar writes.
                                 
                                 PROPERTY FUND
                                 U.S. Cartesian Group has taken a 2.85 percent stake worth
around 100 million euros in Fondul Proprietatea, a property fund
set up to compensate people whose property was seized by the
communist regime, Ziarul Financiar writes.
                                 
                                 BANK HANDLOWY
                                 UBS cut its price target for Polish Bank Handlowy <BAHA.WA>
to 87 zlotys from 98 and maintained its "buy" rating.
                                 GETIN
                                 Getin Bank, the core asset of financial group Getin Holding
<GETI.WA> core asset, reported a 50 percent in first-half net
profit to 195.2 million zlotys.
                                 
                                 BIOTON
                                 SciGen, the company controlled by Polish insulin maker
Bioton <BOTN.WA> may debut on a Zurich bourse, daily Parkiet
reported.
                                 
                                 EUROPEAN MARKETS
                                 European shares were set to gain ground on Monday as weak
oil prices continued to ease inflation worries while a rise in
the U.S. dollar against the euro could boost exporters.
