refiner Lotos <LTOS.WA> are among 47 companies competing for
Norwegian extraction rights, Parkiet writes.
DACIA
Romanian carmaker Dacia, owned by France's Renault
<RENA.PA>, reports a 43 percent sales increase in the first
three quarters to 31,600 units, Ziarul Financiar reports.
DAFORA MEDIAS
Romania's drilling and construction company Dafora Medias
will put on hold projects worth 150 million euros ($203.9
million) because of higher financing costs triggered by the
global financial crisis, Business Standard reports.

Volkswagen's <VOWG.DE> Skoda Auto, the biggest Czech company
by turnover, will halt production in the last week of October
due to poor demand on other European markets. []
MAGYAR TELEKOM
Magyar Telekom <MTEL.BU> plans to lay off up to 300
employees, most in the first quarter of 2009, at a cost of 5
billion forints ($27.41 million) this year, the company said in
a statement on Monday.
EU CLIMATE PLAN
Poland has moved closer to assembling a blocking minority
among European Union members, allowing them to seek changes to
Brussels' proposed climate package, Polish officials said.

EUROPEAN MARKETS
European shares were set to open higher on Tuesday, after
suffering record falls in the previous session, as a
surprisingly large Australian rate cut sparked hopes other
countries would follow suit.
Spreadbetters expected gains of as much as 2-2.3 percent on
Britain's FTSE 100 <>, Germany's DAX <> and France's
CAC 40 <>.
