ZENTIVA
Czech drugs maker Zentiva called an extraordinary
shareholders meeting (EGM) for Sept. 3 to discuss a 30 billion
crown ($1.86 billion) takeover bid from French drugs maker
Sanofi-Aventis <SASY.PA>. []
MOL
Hungarian oil and gas firm MOL <MOLB.BU> more than
quadrupled its net income in the second quarter largely due to
big forex gains on its debts and strong downstream and upstream
performance. []
TVN
Poland's top listed media group TVN <TVNN.WA> reported a
50-percent rise in second-quarter net profit on Tuesday, beating
expectations, thanks to strong advertising sales and one-off
financial gains. []
AGORA
Net profit at Polish media group Agora <AGOD.WA> fell 35
percent in the second quarter, widely missing analyst
expectations, as wage increases weighed on results. []
ASSECO
Poland's largest software maker Asseco Poland <SOBK.WA>
posts a second-quarter net profit three times as high as a year
ago, beating expectations, thanks to acquisitions and gains from
a large bank contract. []
ASSECO
Asseco is in early talks to buy Romanian software company
Siveco to cash in on upcoming tenders in the country, newspaper
Puls Biznesu reported citing the company's Chief Executive Adam
Goral.
WARSAW BOURSE
The head of the Warsaw bourse confirms interest in taking a
stake in the Prague Stock Exchange, Rzeczpospolita quoted him as
saying.
PEKAO <BAPE.WA> STAKE SALES
Poland's treasury ministry expects to sign in September a
deal to sell its remaining 4 percent stake in Bank Pekao to its
controlling shareholder, Italy's UniCredit <CRDI.MI>, newspaper
Dziennik reported.
BRDT
Romania's second largest bank, BRD, controlled by France's
Societe Generale <SOGN.PA>, reported a 23-percent increase in
first-half net profit on Monday, below market expectations.

LUKOIL ROMANIA
Lukoil Romania, the local unit of Russia's Lukoil <LKOH.MM>,
recorded a 33 percent fall in net profit to $12 million in the
first half of the year, due to higher operating costs. Its
turnover rose 34 percent to $1 billion, Ziarul Financiar said.
GTC
Globe Trade Centre (GTC) <GTCE.WA>, a Warsaw-listed real
estate company, reports a 30-percent fall in second-quarter net
profit due to one-off earnings last year. []
PBG, PGNIG
Polish construction company PBG <PBGG.WA> has signed a
contract worth 1.7 billion zlotys ($781.6 million) with gas
distributor PGNiG <PGNI.WA> to build installation to explore oil
and gas. []
EUROPEAN MARKETS
European shares are expected to open lower on Tuesday, as
banks fall into the spotlight once again after a
larger-than-expected quarterly loss at UBS <UBSN.VX>, while the
slide in crude oil will likely dent the oil and gas sector.

WALL STREET
U.S. stocks rose on Monday as oil prices closed lower for a
sixth day, improving prospects for consumer and business
spending.
The gains built on the market's best week since April. The
fall in the price of oil boosted retailers' stocks before a
batch of earnings from Wal-Mart Stores Inc <WMT.N> and others,
as well as energy-sensitive airline shares.
