WARSAW, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Here are news stories, press
reports and events to watch which may affect Central/Eastern
Europe's financial markets on Friday.
                                 
                                 PKO BP
                                 Poland's largest bank by market cap PKO BP <PKOB.WA>
publishes second quarter results. Analysts polled by Reuters
expect a net profit of 901 million zlotys. 
                                 
                                 PKN, PGNIG
                                 Poland's largest oil refiner PKN <PKNA.WA> wants to team up
with local gas distributor PGNiG <PGNI.WA> to look for oil
deposits in Poland, a deputy chief executive tells Puls Biznesu.
                                 Gazeta Wyborcza quotes the same officialas saying PKN may
cut its planned capital expenditure below the planned 21 billion
zlotys ($10 billion) in an updated strategy.
                                 
                                 TV AD MARKET SOARS
                                 Polish TV advertising market rose 18.3 percent in the first
half to 1.9 billion zlotys, with the blue-chip broadcaster TVN
<TVNN.WA> raising its ad revenue by more than a fourth to 664
million, Gazeta Prawna reports.
                                 
                                 HIDROELECTRICA
                                 Romanian state-owned hydro-power producer Hidroelectrica
reports a gross profit of 230 million lei ($102.4 million) in
the first half of the year, up eight-fold from the same period
of last year, reports Ziarul Financiar. Revenue rose 31 percent
to 1.2 billion lei.
                                 
                                 NUCLEARELECTRICA
                                 Romania's state-owned nuclear company Nuclearelectrica plans
to get state-guaranteed loans worth 220 million euros in 2012 to
build the third and fourth nuclear reactors at its Cernavoda
plant on the Danube river, Evenimentul Zilei reports.
                                 Another 100 million euros will be obtained from listing a
small stake on the Romanian bourse and 800 million euros will be
given by the government.
                                 
                                 DEDEMAN
                                 Romanian construction materials distributor Dedeman plans to
invest 190 million euros ($293.8 million) to expand its network
to 30 units from 11, Ziarul Financiar writes.
                                 
                                 JW CONSTRUCTION
                                 Poland's top homebuilder J.W. Construction <JWCA.WA> slashes
its 2008 net profit forecast by 31 percent because of weaker
demand for new flats. It expects to earn 150.6 million zlotys
($72 million) this year, down from earlier 219.7 million.

                                 MUTUAL FUNDS
                                 Assets under management at Polish mutual funds dropped by a
third from a year earlier in July, as the recovery in local
stocks failed to lure clients back into the market after months
of selling, a report showed on Thursday.       []
                                 
                                 EUROPEAN MARKETS
                                 European stocks were seen retreating on Friday, following a
sell-off on Wall Street overnight on AIG's <AIG.N> big losses
and Wal-Mart's <WMT.N> cautious sales forecast, but weakness in
the euro could support shares of exporters such as industrials
and automakers.

                                 U.S. stocks tumbled  on Thursday after a big loss from
insurer American International Group fueled fears of more
fallout from the credit crisis and Wal-Mart's <WMT.N> cautious
