INSTANT VIEW 5-Singer becomes new Czech cbank govenor

                                
 PRAGUE, June 18 (Reuters) - Czech President Vaclav Klaus
named Miroslav Singer on Friday as the next central bank
governor, replacing Zdenek Tuma who will end his reign on the
board on June 30. [ID:nPRG004217]
                                
 The following are comments from analysts and strategists on
the appointment.
                                
 
                                
 TOMAS VLK, ECONOMIST, PATRIA FINANCE
                                
 "The appointment of one of the two vice-governors was most
likely, so this is neutral for markets. Singer was one of the
best candidates. This will ensure some continuity in the bank
board, which is good."
                                
 "There will be no major change in communication of policy.
Singer is one of the board members that is good with
communication with markets... saying his opinion on staff
projections and balance of risks. He is one of the best members
for external communication."
                                
 "He is considered to be rather a dove, but this will not
have impact on policy as it will depend on the new member that
will be appointed."
                                
 
                                
 LARS CHRISTENSEN, HEAD OF NEW EUROPE RESEARCH, DANSKE BANK
                                
 "It is not massively surprising given the president's
preferences, and of course it provides some continuity. It
probably won't change the actual monetary policy but obviously
Singer is a little more verbal than Tuma."
                                
 "The biggest risk is that his character in terms of
expressing views comes out too much, from time to time his views
have been a little erratic... We'll see how he adjusts there."
                                
 "Overall, no major change in actual policy expectations but
in terms of communication I'm a little bit fearful we could have
a little bit more erratic communication."

 "That was the most probable choice so it was good there was
no surprise. From the standpoint of monetary policy it is a good
choice. There will likely be no difference for interest rates in
the coming months. The moves in the longer term might be less
gradual under Singer given his track record. He has a record of
pushing for bigger interest rate changes and more frequent
changes in direction."

 "It was no surprise. I would not expect any significant
change because Singer has been a vice-governor for some time. He
is experienced."
                                
 "For financial markets, there is no change. Singer quite
often communicated with markets, with analysts."
                                
 "We will see later who will be the new vice-governor and new

 "It is an excellent choice. He is extremely competent and a
very strong candidate with a strong grip on both financial
supervision and the economy."
                                
 "He will also add to the credibility of the independence of
the central bank."
                                
 "I would say the one thing Singer is likely to do is
continue his rhetoric that tends to be quite volatile and
surprising, but I don't think it is a major issue at the end of
