GOVERNMENT MEETING
Government of Prime Minister Robert Fico will hold its
regular weekly meeting in the eastern Slovak town of Spisska
Nova Ves, 0800 GMT.
INDUSTRIAL OUTPUT
The Statistics Office will publish August industrial output
data, 0700 GMT. Analysts forecast industrial output to rise by
7.2 percent on an annual basis in August.
CONSTRUCTION OUTPUT

output data, 0700 GMT.
SLOVAKIA SAYS DEBATING BROADER DEPOSIT GUARANTEE
The Slovak Finance Ministry said on Tuesday it was
discussing a possible extension of its guarantee on bank
deposits because of the global financial crisis.

EU TELLS SLOVAKIA TO KEEP MAIL SERVICE COMPETITIVE
European Union antitrust regulators ordered Slovakia on
Tuesday to reopen competition in its postal sector, ruling that
recent legal changes violated EU rules on dominant market
positions, the EU executive said.

C.BANK DRAINS SKK 196.4 BLN IN REPO TENDER
The Slovak central bank (NBS) accepted all bids in a regular
two-week repo tender on Tuesday, draining 196.404 billion crowns
($8.80 billion) from the market, NBS data showed.

PENSION AGENDA
Finance Minister Jan Pociatek has rejected a suggestion by
Social Affairs Minister Viera Tomanova that he take over the
agenda of private pension funds after the government agreed to
re-open the system for more than seven months.

SMK TO SUE SLOTA
The opposition ethnic Hungarian SMK party said it would file
a law suit against Jan Slota, the leader of the far-right Slovak
National Party, for his verbal attacks on Hungarians.

GAS PRICES
The state energy market regulator (URSO) has restarted the
review of a request by the gas monopoly SPP to raise prices by
almost 20 percent. URSO did not say when it may rule on the
request, but SPP will not be able to charge higher prices from
November as it originally expected.
